Dev Log #001 / Farm Forge

Farm Forge Becomes Priority One

Madison becomes the proving ground for Farm Forge. A clearer focus, a rebuilt local AI setup, and one practical next milestone: a road that belongs to the terrain.

One clear priority

Farm Forge is now Priority One at TW Farms. I want to spend more time shaping places people want to farm, and less time wrestling with the repetitive work that sits between an idea and a useful result.

That means giving this project a proper proving ground. Madison comes first: a map with an identity, a sense of place and room for the TW Farms crew. It gives every decision a practical question to answer — does this help us build a better Madison?

Madison first. A wider ambition.

The Madison artwork captures the feeling I am working towards: open country, a place to belong, and a future worth building. It is a statement of direction, not a claim that the finished map already looks like the cover.

Farm Forge has ambitions beyond one map. But global ambitions need local proof. I want to earn that next step by making something genuinely useful on Madison before talking about what it could become elsewhere.

Getting the workshop ready

R.I.L.E.Y. has moved to llama.cpp, and the bridge and secure tunnel are working again. The practical result is a local AI assistant that can respond through the Command Centre while I stay in control of the work.

The legacy OpenCode, Docker, WSL and Ubuntu stack has been retired from the R.I.L.E.Y. workflow. The focus is a simpler working setup with fewer distractions. Unreal Engine 5.8 is installed too, ready for the next stage of development.

AI is capability amplification for me. It helps me investigate, compare, draft and test more than I could comfortably manage alone. I still choose the direction, judge the result and decide what is ready to show.

The next visible milestone

Click A → click B → terrain-aware road. That is the next milestone: choose two points and work towards a road that makes sense in the landscape.

It is a target, not a finished feature announcement. The useful proof will be what happens on Madison — how the result sits in the terrain and whether it helps the map feel more convincing.

This journal will follow that work through visible results, honest setbacks and the decisions that move it forward. Madison first. Farm Forge global later.
